This paper recommends a fault detection and classification algorithm for a long fixed series capacitor connected transmission lines (FSCCTL). This algorithm utilizes the currents captured at both points of FSCCTL after the occurrence of a fault, which is then processed by wavelet packet transform and the index of wavelet energy of each phase is calculated. The transmission line with FSCs at two locations on transmission line is modeled using MATLAB software. The proposed algorithm correctly detects and classifies faults in all tested fault cases.

摘要
