Large-class teaching in Chinese undergraduate education has strong foundations in both theory and practice. It is a practical means to reconcile the rapid expansion of higher education with the shortage of educational resources. This chapter outlines the development process and current status of large-class teaching in Chinese universities at the undergraduate level, analysing its causes, advantages, and disadvantages. Reform and development of large-class teaching in Chinese undergraduate education offers potential for optimizing class size, increasing educational investment, strengthening academic staff construction, innovating teaching models, leveraging digital technology, and improving the educational evaluation system.
