Simulation Study on the Mechanical Properties of Fish-Eye Terminal Insertion and Extraction

With the development of automobile electronics and other industries, fish-eye terminals are widely used. Before producing fish-eye terminals, Engineers often use the simulation method to determine whether it can meet the specific mechanical performances or not during the insertion process and the crack is not allowed to occur in the local plastic deformation zones. Therefore, this paper takes a typical fish-eye terminal connector as the object, and uses two software of Hypermesh and LS-DYNA to carry out the insertion and extraction process simulation. By using the symmetry of the model to take half of the finite element analysis and modeling, the insertion and extraction force, sidewall pressure and elastic rebound curves with time are obtained respectively. In order to improve the prediction accuracy of simulation model, some problems also need to solve such as the need to align with the experimental data, to supply the material tensile curve and to detect physical surface flaws.
