A Social Robot Supporting Artistic Activities with Older Adults: A Pilot Study
摘要
Older adults living in care centres require continuous and specialised attention to maintain their well-being in the best possible condition. However, the shortage of caregivers and therapists to supervise multiple residents simultaneously during these activities requires innovative solutions. This paper explores the use of the Mini social robot to support entertaining and interactive creative art-based sessions that may promote creativity, engagement, and human-robot interaction in elderly care contexts. We did a pilot study with six seniors who interacted with Mini during the art-based activity. Post-session personal interviews suggest high levels of immersion and engagement and positive feedback on the activities. Our findings suggest that Mini is an interactive guide during the sessions, offering support while completing the activity, enriching users’ experiences, and encouraging participation in care settings.
