Breathe with Me: A Breathing Exercise Guided by the Robot NAO Reduces Stress
摘要
This study investigates perceptions and effectiveness of a guided breathing exercise delivered by the prerecorded video of the robot NAO for reducing stress among university students. Drawing on research in socially assistive robotics and breathing-based stress interventions, the study examines changes in participants' stress levels before and after the exercise using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Results from 42 participants showed a significant reduction in stress following the intervention. Regression analysis further revealed that participants who perceived NAO as more socially engaging experienced greater stress reduction. These findings suggest that robot-guided breathing exercises, even when delivered via video, can serve as effective tools for stress reduction in educational settings, such as university seminar rooms.
