GWAS and QTL Mapping in Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)
摘要
Potato (Solanum tuberosum) stands as a globally significant crop, serving as a vital source of sustenance for millions. In this book chapter, we uncover the essential methodologies, tools, and resources that empower researchers to map Quantitative Trait Loci (QTLs) and conduct Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) in potatoes. We also examine the roles of QTLs and GWAS, highlighting how these parallel approaches independently and collectively enhance potato genetics and genomics. Through important case studies, we showcase the impact of QTL and GWAS discoveries in shaping the future of potato cultivation. Furthermore, we critically analyze the advantages and limitations inherent in these tools for potato genetic improvement. This thorough elucidation lays the base for the genetic enhancement of potatoes, with the ultimate goal of fortifying global food security through sustainable food production and strengthening nutritional resources.
