The repertoires of resistance included the extensive march from the Babakan Siliwangi city forest to Gedung Sate, oratorical speeches in public spaces, and the enactment of pantomime before the parliament building at Gedung Sate. The environmental movement Backsilmove faces a dilemma where the local administration perceives its acts of protest as opposition to economic policies and urban development that are predominantly capitalistic. This chapter analyzes the strategy and tactics of the movement utilizing pantomime as a kind of political satire to raise awareness of governmental capitalistic policies. A long march and street mime not only symbolize a peaceful protest but also signify Backsilmove activists’ success of their environmental movements. The testimonies from Backsilmove activists enhance our understanding of the creative agency of youth in mobilizing political power to contest unsustainable urban development and preserve the forest.
