The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in January 2020 has been turning China’s macroeconomic status and social life upside down. Since then, China’s energy industries such as electricity and oil and gas have born apparent negative shocks in a short, time. In this chapter, we first sum up the impact of the previous global pandemics on the development of economic society, after which we analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on China's economy and its energy supply and demand. We divide the process of such impact into the early, middle and late stages, among which the middle stage refers to the peak. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the peak refers to the period from the outbreak to the turning point in the growth of the cumulative confirmed cases (the turning point has not yet occurred). The middle stage refers to the grace period where the situation is basically under control.

摘要
