Cloud forensics is an emerging field that blends traditional digital forensics methodologies with the complexities of cloud computing environments. This paper addresses the analysis and key challenges faced by cloud forensics, particularly within diverse service models such as PaaS, IaaS and SaaS. It also explores the implementation of Forensics-as-a-Service (FaaS) as a novel approach for addressing cloud-based cybercrimes. The analysis identifies critical issues including data volatility, jurisdictional barriers, encryption and multi-tenancy, also highlighting potential solutions and frameworks proposed by leading researchers at the same time. The paper reinforces the need for robust and scalable tools for forensics that are tailored for cloud infrastructures and emphasizes on the importance of international collaboration for overcoming the technical and legal challenges that are associated with evidence collection in cloud environments.
