Current State of Intelligent Warehouse Storage
摘要
Warehousing, a vital component of logistics systems, has undergone significant evolution with the rise of e-commerce and advancements in digital and automation technologies. Modern intelligent warehouses integrate technologies such as robotic picking, automated sortation, and intelligent control systems to enhance efficiency, flexibility, and safety. Key operational sub-processes—including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and shipping—are increasingly optimized through automation and digital tools such as RFID, optical guidance, and warehouse management systems. Notably, forward picking and reverse storage zones reflect strategic spatial organization to meet diverse order fulfillment needs. Companies like Amazon, JD, and Alibaba have led the deployment of unmanned and automated warehouses, contributing to global market growth. Intelligent warehousing systems rely heavily on effective control strategies and coordination across subsystems, particularly in managing multi-robot cooperation. Current research focuses on optimizing storage allocation, control and scheduling mechanisms, and cooperative strategies for multiple automated vehicles. These innovations are reshaping traditional warehouse models, enabling precise, flexible, and fully automated material handling, and driving the transformation toward intelligent warehousing.
