The Case for a More History and Anthropology-Based Approach to Climate Change and Sustainability Education in Creating the Environmental Citizens of the Future and Promoting Ecological Civilization
摘要
This chapter adopts an anthropological and historical approach to ecological civilization to provide a civilizational scope that spans civilizations and the known history of humankind, and the lessons we can learn from choices made in the past. Such an approach will allow for a deeper look at many of those historical choices, thereby alerting us to the need for the present-day choice of a new historical and anthropological approach to climate change and sustainability education that will better promote ecological civilization and create the environmental citizens of the future. This is done in the attempt to show that if we are to promote an ecological civilization through climate change and sustainability education it must be done by centering the concept in not just the present and the future but also the past.
