Study for the Helical Gear Shaved by the Plunge Shaving Cutter Generated by a Form Grinding Machine
摘要
Gear shaving is a precise finishing process after gear hobbing or shaping, essential for improving gear stability and reducing noise in automotive and motorcycle applications. Plunge shaving gear offers higher precision due to simpler motion control but is harder to manufacture because of its complex hyperbolic profile. Traditional production using disc-shaped grinding wheels often causes profile errors, especially with gears having large helical angles. This study proposes using form grinding machines to produce plunge shaving cutters, aiming to minimize tooth surface distortion. By modeling helical gears, analyzing cutter geometry, and applying form grinding, the method reduces manufacturing errors and regrinding time, offering significant practical benefits for gear tool manufacturers and machine operators.
