Old age is an important period of the life of most of the people, as that is the time when the individual is being partially cut off from his/her loved ones. It is to say that either his/her children have grown up and settled elsewhere, or not in frequent contact. It is also the time that one gets retired and must be away from his/her colleagues and friends. Nevertheless, this is a period of life when one experiences physiological, psychological, mental, as well social changes inwardly as well as outwardly. During the years after 65 in most of the cases, the individual throws temper tantrums for a whole host of reasons. Confusion is one of the leading causes of anger and aggression. A certain amount of sadness is normal, but at times, chronic diseases may result in depression, anxiety, anger, and sleep disorders. Multiple changes occur in the aging brain, leading to age-related emotional disorders. These include a fear of death or dying as well as anxiety over financial problems or health issues. The death of friends, family members, and pets and the loss of a spouse or partner are common causes of depression in older adults. However, the mental strength and the value-based foundation of the individual is the biggest asset and support during old age. Those values are either already strongly existing within him/her or should be acquired depending on the need of the age. Therefore, understanding the human values that prevail during a person’s old age can determine the state of his satisfaction, ability to relate to others around him, get along well with his children and grandchildren, live a purposeful life, and generally be vibrant and happy.
