We explore the construction and application of a scale for assessing the professional competence of virtual reality (VR) workers and provide an assessment tool for VR design to cultivate talents. The Delphi method and analytical hierarchical process (AHP) were used study. A questionnaire survey was conducted reflecting 16 experts’ opinions, and the results were statistically analyzed. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted, and the importance of the indicators was estimated busing AHP. The assessment scale of professional competence in VR contained the indicators of professional knowledge, professional competence, and professional attitudes. The results allow for a better assessment system for the professional competencies. In using VR, technical applications and the ability of interaction design must be improved to promote innovativeness and diversification. The study result provides a reference for the professional development of VR workers and guidance for education, training, and recruitment.
