Flexural Strengthening of Concrete Prism Using Textile-Reinforced Mortar
摘要
Concrete structures are often vulnerable to damage caused by accidental impact, poor construction practices, and the need for compliance with updated design standards. To address these challenges, this experimental study evaluates the effectiveness of U-wrapping retrofitting techniques using glass fabric-reinforced polymer (GFRP) and basalt fabric-reinforced polymer (BFRP) meshes on concrete prism specimens. The primary objective was to enhance the flexural performance of damaged prisms. The results show that U-wrapping with GFRP and BFRP meshes significantly improved the flexural capacity of about 45% to 80% and enhancing their resistance to cracking and failure. Notably, BFRP provided higher strength gains than GFRP at all damage levels. This research offers valuable insights into strengthening concrete prisms using U-wrapping and highlights the potential of sustainable, effective repair techniques in structural engineering.
