Food-drug interaction (FDI) is as important as drug-drug interaction but with far underestimation, with increasing prevalence, and insufficient knowledge. FDI can decrease drug efficacy or increase its efficacy and even leads to toxicity. FDI can be anticipated with a change in the drug efficacy without any change in drug dosage or introduction of a new drug. FDI can result from pharmaceutical, pharmacokinetic, or pharmacodynamic drug interaction. People ingest fruits and supplements, and they consider them safe ingredients without considering their active ingredients leading to interactions with drugs. It’s a must for physicians, pharmacists, and nurses to be aware of interactions regarding common prescriptions and learn patients about. This chapter discusses commonly prescribed drugs interaction with food including PPI, Antibiotics, statins, NSAIDs, antihypertensives, antihistaminics, DOAGs, levothyroxine, warfarin, MAO inhibitors, metformin, nasal decongestants, and antidepressants.
