Study on The Mechanical Properties of Concrete Using Various Supplies of Water, Mixing and Curing

In this study an analysis of the impact of various water sources in the concrete mixing and curing process was conducted. Likewise, the level of their impact on the efflorescence and corrosion of concrete, as well as staining of concrete has been ascertained, and the reduction in terms of compressive and split tensile strength of concrete. The slump and compaction factor of concrete were determined using different water samples: cubical specimens of concrete measuring 150 mm × 150 mm × 150 mm for compressive strength of concrete and cylindrical specimens for split tensile strength 300 mm × 150 mm From the outcomes of the concrete mixes that had gone through the mixing and curing process, the conclusions deduced were that the employed water sources had an impact on the aspects of the compressive and split tensile of the concrete produced. Whereas In this test OPC was replaced by fly ash & GGBS, M-Sand partially replaced by fine aggregates, superplasticizers added to concrete. Finally, it suggested that water from a lake could be used anytime but tap water was not accessible and further recommended that it might be optimal to use spirits in an attempt to determine the mixing temperature. However, the properties that the tests showed were not much different and fairly good when compared to conventional concrete.
