(Academic) Integrity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
摘要
Concerns over academic integrity are not new. However, with the advent of mass education and AI development, unease over the increasing prevalence of its violations and efforts for potential resolutions have intensified. This chapter discusses additional observations and problematic aspects, particularly in terms of conflicting discourse surrounding this and related topics. This chapter highlights one unique dilemma learning and academic integrity face in terms of a contrast between society’s endorsement of outcome orientation and education and learning’s nature to be more process oriented. This calls for more nuanced attention and a complex approach to cognitive off-loading in learning and academic integrity. Adopting the theories and findings from related and longer-standing research fields, this chapter also calls for a revisit of the skewed attention on individuals in academic integrity literature but pays greater attention to the environment as well as a re-examination of the goal of education.
