A two-stage drying unit with a tempering unit has been designed to be utilized right after the process of soaking and steaming for a parboiling machine. Two conveyor systems are proposed: one for transporting paddy from soaking to the first drying stage (Bucket Conveyor), and another for tempering and moving partially dried paddy to the second dryer (Tempering Conveyor). A Centrifugal conveyor initially planned is replaced with an elastic slider mechanism due to practicality concerns. The first-stage drying unit employs three angled perforated beds with an integrated heater and blower setup with turbulent air, reaching 120 °C for drying. A recirculating duct manages waste heat, enhancing efficiency. Resting the dried paddy is recommended to achieve uniform moisture content. A continuous bucket conveyor is designed for tempering and transferring to the second dryer. The second stage dryer, employing a cross belt roller, utilizes the same integrated heating and blowing system at 50 °C with mild air. This entire process reduces paddy moisture content from 40 to 18% in 1 h, contrasting favorably with 3 days for sun drying.

摘要
