This chapter introduced two development stages for the translation and dissemination of the German version of Mao’s works, which include Selected Works of Mao Zedong and other Mao’s works. First historic stage was from 1949 to 1960s which involved the cultural exchange between China and East Germany since the latter was responsible for the translation and distribution of Mao's works.Second stage is from 1961 to 1978, after China and Soviet Union splits, the translation and publishing works was carried on by Chinese side which resulted in 7 volumes of Selected Works of Mao Zedong was published in West Germany.
