This study investigates the challenges faced by the elderly in using mobility aids, including health issues like poor posture and musculoskeletal disorders resulting from prolonged or improper use. The methodology followed involved using unstructured interviews and observations to gather essential data on both the physical and emotional needs of the elderly, ensuring a grounded understanding of their experiences. Key findings include identifying the significance of modularity and customisation in mobility aids and acknowledging the diverse and specific requirements of individual users. The research underscores the necessity for adaptable designs that cater to these unique needs, thereby enhancing usability and overall satisfaction. The study also identifies a demand for enhanced safety features, such as fall detection and emergency alert systems, from both the elderly and caregivers. The insights obtained are intended to create a reference framework for designers, paving the way for more personalised, secure, and user-friendly mobility aids that significantly enhance the quality of life for elderly individuals.
