Design Measures Against Urban Heat in View of European Green Capitals and the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030
摘要
Urban biodiversity plays a critical role in enhancing ecosystem resilience, improving human well-being, and supporting climate adaptation. The European Green Capital Award was established to recognise cities that lead in sustainable urban development, aligning with the European Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. This paper examines design measures to mitigate urban heat in European Green Capital cities, focusing on their approaches to green infrastructure, water management, and nature-based solutions. By analysing case studies of award-winning cities, effective strategies that balance urban growth with climate resilience are identified. The findings highlight the importance of integrated planning, policy incentives, and community engagement in creating sustainable and heat-resilient urban environments.
