Performance Optimization for Wireless Broadband Access

This chapter discusses strategies for improving the performance of Wireless Broadband Access. This includes Multi-user Scheduling Algorithms for non-identical channel distribution, LTE Cellular Networks, optimal resource allocation in LTE, and performance comparison of various tunnelling techniques and routing protocols. In addition, it addresses optimal multipath routing for video transmission in VANETs, and transmission of audio over LTE packet-based wireless networks using wavelets. This chapter reviews different aspects involved in device-to-device (D2D) communication in cellular networks such as transmission mode selection, quality of experience (QoE) awareness in video streaming, traffic offloading techniques, mobility models, resource sharing, and power management schemes. It also shows a comparison of different resource allocation schemes for D2D networks Metaheuristic algorithms such as sleep scheduling algorithm (iSleep) and Whale Optimization Algorithm (i-WOA) for clustering in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks are also introduced.
