When possible, limb salvage is preferred to an amputation. However, an amputation is still the treatment of choice in large and inoperable malignant bone tumours.

In the past, malignant bone tumours of the extremities were managed by performing an amputation. Currently, limb salvage procedure has become popular with a definite advantage of preserving the limb. When possible, limb salvage is preferred to an amputation. However, an amputation is still the treatment of choice in large and inoperable malignant bone tumours.
