Semantics has been widely and deeply developed in China since its introduction from the west in the first half of the twentieth century. In recent years, apart from making many new theoretical advancements, applied research in semantics has also shown multi-angle, multi-level, and interdisciplinary development trends, particularly yielding fruitful results in translation studies, foreign language teaching, and dictionary compilation.
