Impervious surfaces of urban Romania have multiplied, interrupting the natural hydrological cycle and no longer allowing the rainwater to infiltrate the soil and to refill the groundwater reserves. This study looks at the degree of these changes throughout the country and assesses their effect on groundwater recharge and considers sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) as mitigation options. Public Statistic Project or PSPP is a software dedicated to statistical analysis of sampled data. In this study, PSPP was used to perform the main statistical analysis: descriptive statistics, regression models, correlation test, to explore and interpret the data. A limitation of the study is its small number of urban areas. The accuracy of data also depends on the availability and reliability of local sources and, in a self-reported perception of public awareness and policy effectiveness, may be vulnerable to bias.
