Under the current new pattern of integrated urban-rural development, especially peri-urban villages located in developed regions are still facing the challenge of adults from household registration, although their comprehensive development strength is leading in the national comparison. This study selects eight peri-urban villages in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces to explore in depth the status of different aspects of peri-urban villages in developed regions. Basing on the current evaluation framework, this study constructs a subjective-objective rural habitat assessment system, comprehensively and reasonablely analyzing the rural living environment. The study finds that quality of the rural housing and public services have become the core traction force driving the migration of residents. Of these, housing satisfaction was around 60%, the lowest of all indicator dimensions. Policy recommendations are put forward, taking into account the specific characteristics of the countryside.
