Immunological Challenges in Xenotransplantation
摘要
There is an unmet need for organ transplantation because of the non-availability of appropriate organs. The individuals who require organ transplantation for end stage organ failure (ESOF) are rapidly increasing in spite of both live and deceased donor organs being transplanted. The waiting list is increasing by leaps and bounds in both developing and developed countries. Xenografts can include organs like hearts, kidneys, and livers, as well as tissues like pancreatic islets and skin to be transplanted from animals to humans.
