From the onset of the Opium War in 1840 to the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the field of educational studies in China experienced a developmental trajectory characterized by its inception, evolution, and maturation. During this period, the convergence and integration of Chinese and Western educational philosophies led to the emergence of a rejuvenated Chinese educational perspective. Over the span of more than a century, successive generations of scholars contributed collaboratively to the transition from traditional to modern, and subsequently to contemporary educational paradigms.

From the onset of the Opium War in 1840 to the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the field of educational studies in China experienced a developmental trajectory characterized by its inception, evolution, and maturation.
