Taguchi Analysis on Cathodically Protected Steel in Simulated Concrete Pore Solution

The HCP values of reinforcements immersed in SCPS solutions with 0% to 5% chloride ions and cathodically protected with pure magnesium anodes were compared in this work using Taguchi analysis. Additionally, various chloride ion concentrations must be examined for reinforcing mass loss. Over time, the HCP values of all reinforcements in SCPS were found to decrease. On chloride-free solutions, the HCP value is lowest. Every SCPS composition loses mass initially, but it decreases over time. On day 20, all SCPS compositions lose 0.8–1.0% mass. This is 0.87% for 0% SCPS and 0.97% for 4%. % mass loss does not trend every day. The steepest mass loss decline was for 3% SCPS. Distinct corrosion reinforcement zones were observed on the reinforcement samples immersed in 5% SCPS solution. The microstructure of Mg anode in 5% SCPS showed light grey MgO deposits and dark grey MgCl2 globules. The mass loss in reinforcements and Cl in SCPC has been optimized simultaneously using Taguchi methodology and found that concentration is the most significant variable to minimize the responses.
