This study focuses on mobile ambient air quality monitoring in the two biggest industrial areas of Ahmedabad city, specifically Vatva and Naroda GIDC. The research aims to monitor particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) concentration, analyze the ambient air quality data, identify potential sources of pollution, and compare of ambient air quality of both GIDCs. Mobile air quality monitoring was carried out for 21 days between February 3 and March 22, 2024, including weekends. The travel time along the selected routes in both GIDC areas is approximately 60 min. The study found that in Naroda GIDC, the average PM2.5 concentration is 46 μg/m3, falling within the NAAQS (2009) limits and classified as satisfactory. Meanwhile, the average PM10 concentration is 119 μg/m3, placing it in the moderately polluted category. In Vatva GIDC, the average PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations are 70 μg/m3 and 183 μg/m3, categorized as moderately polluted category. The reasons for the poor air quality in Vatva GIDC are poor road quality, lesser green cover, frequent movement of heavy-duty vehicles and more chemical industries as compared to Naroda GIDC.
