Unraveling the Global Economic Impact: A Region and Sector-Wise Post-COVID Analysis
摘要
The COVID-19 pandemic has profound and far-reaching economic repercussions, disrupting global markets, trade, and labor systems. Lockdowns and decreased spending caused GDP contractions in advanced nations, while supply chain problems, capital flight, and decreased remittances affected emerging economies. Some East Asian countries demonstrated resilience through successful containment and robust digital industries, while emerging nations grappled with limited fiscal capacity and instability in commodity prices. The pandemic had varying effects on different industries: the tourism, hotel, and aviation sectors experienced sharp drops, while the technology and healthcare sectors prospered. Agriculture had localized labor and logistics challenges but preserved the stability of the food supply overall, while manufacturing saw supply chain interruptions with recovery linked to digital adaptation. In this report, we examine the differential economic impacts of the pandemic across regions and sectors, highlighting the interplay of pre-existing vulnerabilities, policy responses, and recovery trajectories.
