The Coronavirus disease 2019, known as COVID-19, caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 or SARS-CoV-2 infection, first came into notice in December 2019 and was announced as a pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020. Despite people spanning all age groups being susceptible to COVID-19, individuals with preexisting diseases are more vulnerable. Due to the immunocompromised condition, cancer patients posed an elevated risk of severity, complications, as well as death in the COVID-19 pandemic. This chapter provides insight into the SARS-CoV-2 infections in cancer patients and related outcomes. Here, we discuss the risk factors linked to COVID-19 and cancer, underlying molecular mechanisms, and the impact of COVID-19 treatments on cancer patients.
