Introduction: The Mind-Body Connection
摘要
The mind-body connection has been a topic of debate for centuries. This topic has been among the subjects of many disciplines, such as philosophy, quantum physics, and medicine. In philosophy, mind-body dualism assumes that mind functions are not physical or that the mind and body are separable. In recent years, developments in neuroscience have transformed this situation from a philosophical problem to a scientific issue. The brain and nervous system are at the center of the mind-body connection. Neuro-endocrine, neuro-chemical, and neuroimaging studies have revealed the continuity in the mind-body connection. Many mind-body practices change mental and emotional states, such as meditation, yoga, tai chi, qigong, Pilates, and their combination with exercise. Multidisciplinary research is needed to understand the neurobiological mechanisms of these practices.
