The Effect of AI-Aided Design Processes on Cognitive Load, Creativity, and Metacognitive Awareness
摘要
This chapter investigates the effects of artificial intelligence-aided design (AIAD) processes on cognitive load, creativity, and metacognitive awareness. Within the scope of the research, a three-day online workshop was conducted with thirty-seven undergraduate and graduate architecture students, and data based on participant experiences were analysed using qualitative research methods. The results of the sentiment-based content analysis reveal that the integration of AI tools into the design process reduces cognitive load, supports creative thinking processes, facilitates rapid prototyping and feedback mechanisms, and increases metacognitive awareness. The findings show that AIAD tools can potentially improve designers’ cognitive and creative capacities. The chapter evaluates the effects of AIAD processes in educational and professional contexts from a local perspective and makes a new contribution to the literature on the integration of AI into design processes.
