The Research on the Application of BIM in Contract Settlement for Large-Scale Complex Construction Projects

In recent years, the wave of informatization has swept across the globe, with AI technologies flourishing and BIM technology gaining widespread application in the field of construction projects. As digital transformation advances and the application of digital technologies in large-scale, complex projects continues to deepen and expand, the use of BIM has become increasingly extensive. Large and complex construction projects often have long construction cycles, high technical complexity, massive volumes of engineering data, and significant challenges in contract settlement. Adopting BIM technology enables faster, more accurate, and more stable access to design information and quantities data. If such data is directly applied to contract settlement, it can greatly reduce redundant manual efforts and improve work efficiency. This paper takes process piping, cables, cable trays, and supports as examples to explore the workflow steps, typical challenges, and division of responsibilities among stakeholders when applying BIM technology to contract settlement. The findings lay the groundwork for leveraging BIM technology in contract settlement practices.
