Convolutional Neural Networks for Enhanced Solar Image Analysis: Detecting Sunspots and Solar Flares
摘要
Sun, the closest star to Earth, determines a lot happening on its surface and beyond it in the solar system. Throughout the emergence of space study, sun has been the epicenter of this research paradigm. The surface of the sun is full of fascinating enigmas that have yet to be disclosed. The two such events that the sun upholds on its surface are solar flares and sunspots. Solar flares or sun flares are bursts of electromagnetic radiation that happen when the magnetic field of the sun tangles in itself and snaps. Sun-spots are also caused due to these sudden energy bursts that cause a certain surface area to heat up violently leaving the rest apart. The left area that has marginally low temperature as compared to its surroundings forms a dark circular shape. Satellite imagery in recent years has provided surface level information that can be proceeded with for scientific endeavors, but it needs the cutting-edge technological analysis to be deciphered and understood. CNN stands as a robust option to understand solar imagery and decrypt the conundrums. Due to its exceptional accuracy and precise prediction for processing the images gives an upper hand over other predictive measures.
