The digital economy is set in a dynamic environment, where global and regional policies mix and interact, sometimes in cooperation, at other times conflicting. This chapter aims to analyze the impact of Regional Trade Agreements and the WTO on the global digital economy. More precisely, it is intended to explore the prospects and issues emerging from the interaction of these regional and global governance frameworks. New generation Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs), including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), have incorporated new measures for digital trade because the members of the aforementioned agreement have common interests in promoting digital trade. On the other hand, organizations like WTO with a very large number of members have the problem of revising their charter that addresses the emergent realities of the digital world. This chapter will look at how these entities enhance the dynamics of international digital trade and what more they are likely to offer in the future international digital economy.
