This chapter explores the multifaceted impact of knee injuries on athletes, with a particular focus on the strength conditioning (S&C) approaches essential for return to sport. It examines the broad consequences of knee injuries on career longevity, performance, psychological well-being, and financial stability, especially within the context of countries like India. The chapter distinguishes between physiotherapy for rehabilitation, and S&C, which aims to enhance athletic performance and try to reduce the number of future overuse injuries. A key theme is the transition from rehabilitation to S&C, where gradual, individualized and sport-specific strength training regimens are introduced to restore function and improve performance. The importance of individualization, progressive overload, specificity, and periodization in designing effective S&C programs is highlighted, as these principles ensure safe and efficient recovery. The chapter also outlines a phased approach to getting back to playing, from stability and endurance, to strength and power, with detailed descriptions of exercises and their benefits. Finally, the challenges facing athletes, such as financial constraints and a lack of qualified professionals, are acknowledged, reinforcing the need for personalized, evidence-based S&C strategies tailored to the unique demands of each athlete’s sport and background.
