This chapter introduces the primary issue and structure of the book “Gender in Digital Entrepreneurship: Recent Issues in Emerging Countries,” emphasizing the significance of digital entrepreneurship as a means of economic empowerment for women in emerging economies. Despite the unprecedented prospects for inclusion presented by digital platforms, women in emerging economies continue to encounter systemic barriers, such as restricted access to technical skills, financing, and supportive ecosystems. This chapter reconceptualizes gender as a socio-cultural construct influenced by institutional, economic, and technological elements, proposing for an integrative approach to examine women’s entrepreneurial experiences. This chapter provides an overview of the five thematic sections: theoretical foundations, digital skills and empowerment, opportunities and challenges, cultural and regional perspectives, and leadership, finance, and personal branding. This chapter contends that inclusive digital entrepreneurship can operate as a transformative catalyst for gender equality, provided that structural barriers are addressed through collaborations in research, policy, and practice.
