Circularly-Polarized Near-Square Microstrip Antenna
摘要
This paper presents a study of a single-feed near-square circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna with four slits and two truncated corners. Furthermore, this antenna is characterized by four U-shaped slots with equal arms and central rotational symmetry. This configuration, analyzed with electromagnetic simulation software, is excited by a coaxial probe placed at the median of the near-square. A parametric study, according to the different geometric parameters of the patch antenna is carried out, and the best structure is selected. The axial ratio has a value of 1.40 dB at 1.9286GHz with a 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 1.35%, and the reflection coefficient is about −29.24 dB at 1.974 GHz for a − 10 dB impedance bandwidth of 4.67%. The radiation pattern at 1.9286 GHz shows a maximum for the right-handed circular polarization. The effective bandwidth in circular polarization is about 1.26%.
