Domestication of Blue Swimming Crab, Portunus pelagicus (Linnaeus, 1758)
摘要
Blue swimming crab is a marine fishery commodity and the main export commodity after shrimp, tuna-skipjack-cob, cuttlefish, and seaweed in Indonesia, mostly it is fulfilled by being caught in the wild, which caused the population in the wild to decrease. Therefore, domestication of this species is crucial. To date, technology for producing swimming crab seed in a hatchery has been developed, and a domestication program has been initiated by some researchers. The zoea-1 stage developed to the crablet stage only required around 20 days, and they found that the growth of G4 is faster than G1. The first sign gonadal maturation at carapace size 63-73 mm, after 90 days of cultured in brackish water pond and after 150 days, 20-50% female crab population are spawned ready to produce seed in hatchery.
