Marco Polo’s Remarks on Chinese Lacquerware

Marco Polo was a thirteenth-century Italian merchant and traveler. At the age of 17, he arrived in the East with his father, Niccolò, and uncle, Matteo, following the overland Silk Road, and arrived in the Yuan Dynasty capital in 1275 after a journey lasting four years. He lived and traveled in China for more than 17 years, and served as an official of the Yuan Dynasty, visiting many places in China at that time.
