Literary discourse differs from non-literature primarily due to its distinctive impact on the audience, which stems from nuanced and unique uses of language. This paper will discuss the discoursal and textual functions of special language patterns in poetic texts with reference to Hāfez’s ghazals (sonnets). It will examine such patterns, attempting to characterize how they not only create distinct impacts on the reader but also are capable of generating unique effects on the same audience across multiple readings. The chapter will further discuss how the poetic special patterns, as the textual ‘mediators’, can potentially be conducive to different aesthetic and cognitive appreciation levels in readers with different cultural backgrounds and varying states of mind. This study can have possible implications for trends in literary criticism, literary studies, and literary translation studies.

摘要
