This paper examines traditional methods of performance training in India, emphasizing mindful and contemplative practices, gender inclusivity in dance, dance movement therapy and dance as an inclusive form of expression. Classical performances in India focus on intense physical training and mental concentration, forming a holistic method of training. Gender inclusivity has been historically accepted within the performance community, providing a safe space for marginalized gender categories. The paper further explores dance therapy, including therapeutic inclusivity for specially abled children, and discusses movement as a sustainable form of expression.
