Diversity, Equity Inclusion (DEI) and Sustainability; the Interconnectedness

Sustainable development an important pertinent global concern is not new but with its evolutionally inception long back. It is crucial to understand how sustainable development gained importance overtime as a framework for managing the complex issues of social inequalities. Though currently sustainable development is closely connected and overlapped with many crucial aspects such as equity, diversity, culture and inclusion, it is important to understand the historical trajectory of how the concept evolved overtime and the transitions that took place. Currently the solution lies in the interdisciplinary collective efforts and constructive pathways. It is important to understand its various aspects since its inception through the transitions and its present scenario. Looking beyond the narrow domestic walls of regions or disciplines is the most pertinent aspect for the effectiveness and success of the strategic actions globally. The chapter reviews the foundations of the concept, various interconnectedness, the journey of evolution of the concept to the futuristic needful pathways and constructive actions.
