Mind the Gap Financing the Climate-Health Nexus
摘要
Current climate action pathways predict at least 3 °C of global warming by the end of the century, falling short of the 2015 Paris Agreement’s goals. The latest IPCC report indicates that mid- and long-term climate risks are significantly higher than currently observed. There is an urgent need for national adaptation plans with a focus on human health; however, critical investment in resilient health systems remains lacking in climate and health finance discussions. This chapter reviews secondary sources and literature to outline the health financing gap in mitigating climate change effects. It accentuates system changes and initiatives necessary to bridge this gap while presenting actionable recommendations for successful execution.
