Cultural Conflicts Between Generative AI and the Cultural Values of Language User Acculturation Strategies
摘要
With the widespread application of generative AI (GenAI), its output has become a cross-cultural communication medium but may clash with traditional language cultural values. This study explores how GenAI output conflicts with users’ cultural values of language and triggers their acculturation strategies. This study uses questionnaires and prompt surveys to find that GenAI output often differs from users’ expectations in terms of expression style, emotional resonance, content diversity, and logical orientation, thus causing users’ discomfort and cultural conflict. Research shows users’ satisfaction with GenAI output content positively affects integration strategies through technology acceptance, and satisfaction with the content affects assimilation strategies through attitude towards cultural heritage. Perceived cultural conflicts can increase the likelihood of separation while reducing the likelihood of choosing marginalization strategies. This study incorporates acculturation theory into the study of the conflict between GenAI output and user cultural values, constructs a theoretical model to reveal its influence mechanism. The research results have guiding significance for GenAI technology developers to optimize algorithms, improve applicability and user satisfaction, and provide a reference for cultural managers to formulate policies to promote benign cultural exchanges and mutual learning.
