The GCC remains one of the most successful regional organizations in the Middle East, despite the internal differences and disputes marring a coherent political response to regional and international developments. However, the GCC was united in condemning the massive Israeli military response to the Hamas attack of 7 October 2023. India’s engagement with the GCC has gradually improved with possibility of strengthening economic ties and revival of the long-halted India-GCC free trade agreement (FTA) talks. However, progress has been hampered due to several issues emerging as point of contention due to the concerns raised by Indian industries.
