The present study aims to explore the path changing behaviour of drivers as well as accelerating and decelerating behaviour of drivers under the influence of access traffic flows and comparison of these behaviours based on vehicle composition, vehicle type, clearance available and road width. For this, four legged intersections at five different locations in Kerala has been identified and data collected using video graphic method. The collected data has been extracted using vehicle trajectory extractor module of traffic data extractor (TDE) software. This data is analysed and through vehicle type, through-access vehicle combination, road width and clearance available are identified as factors affecting path change. The study outcome on how drivers behave under the influence of access flow at signalized intersection may be helpful for providing useful information for traffic management strategies, lane configuration, to improve flow through intersection and designing safer intersections.

摘要
